How do I apply?

It’s easy! All you need to do is complete our online application by clicking the  “Apply Today” button or you can go to https://trainingeducators.info/forms/.

During the application process, you will be asked to submit your resume, provide proof that you have a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution and a 2.00 GPA.

Admissions are rolling and applications are accepted year-round.

You are not limited by your degree! You can teach in any area as long as you pass the required assessments.

We do not have any guidance documents on work visas. We recommend contacting the U.S. Department of State for guidance.

If you desire to teach elementary, a teachable major is not required. However, to teach Secondary or P-12 must have a degree in a teachable major OR pass the required assessments.

Yes! Prior college of education coursework may qualify for waivers.

No, but you must pass it prior to licensure.

Testing schedules and codes are published by the state.

What if my degree is from out of the country?
Foreign credential evaluation is required.

Yes! Arizona Educator Proficiency Assessment scores do not expire.

It is required by state law. The coursework teaches how to teach.

Online teaching is permissible with portfolio-based observations.

Canadian applicants must follow out-of-country guidance.

Foreign credential evaluations are required.

Candidates must pass the Elementary Education test.

Candidates must pass the appropriate subject-area test(s).

Additional endorsements require passing appropriate tests.

ASL certification is available with demonstrated proficiency via SLPI.

How many credits is your program?

Our program is hours based. Our Elementary and Secondary Programs are 383 hours. This is the equivalent of 15.32 credit hours. Our P-12 certification program is 433 hours which is the equivalent of 17.32 credit hours. On our course list you will see the number of hours required for each course.

The way alternative certification works is that you show evidence of your content knowledge by passing the Arizona Core Content Area Assessments. As such, our courses focus on the Art of Teaching, not specific content.

How much does #TEACH cost?

Initial certification costs $6,200 with discounts available for additional endorsements and course waivers.

#TEACH is not a college and therefore cannot offer federal student aid. However, we do have financing options, payment plans, and a payment-in-full discount. Visit the Pricing & Scholarships page for details.

Alternative Teacher Certification in Arizona

The #TEACH alternative teacher certification program provides a flexible, state‑approved pathway for individuals who already hold a bachelor’s degree and want to become certified teachers in Arizona. 

 

How the Program Works 

The #TEACH program is designed to help you move efficiently from application to full Arizona teacher certification through a structured, supportive process.  

Step 1: Apply and Get Started 

Begin by submitting an application. Once accepted, the #TEACH admissions team works with you to map out your personalized path to certification. Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution and meet Arizona eligibility requirements.  

Step 2: Complete Coursework 

You will complete up to 369 hours of comprehensive, competency‑based coursework aligned with Arizona Department of Education requirements. Coursework focuses on: 

  • Planning and Building

  • Child Development

  • Family and Community

  • Instruction

  • Differentiated Instruction

  • Assessment and Evaluation

  • Classroom Management

  • Diverse Learners

  • Teaching Methods

  • Additionally, we offer courses in Restorative Practices

All coursework is designed to prepare you for real classroom environments and professional expectations.  

Step 3: Teach With Support (Residency Year) 

During your first year in the classroom, you serve as a certified teacher while receiving ongoing, individualized support. Instructional coaches provide mentoring, training, and in‑classroom guidance throughout your residency year, ensuring you are never navigating the process alone.  

Step 4: Earn Full Arizona Certification 

Upon successful completion of all program  requirements, including one academic year of teaching with successful evaluations, your Alternative License will convert to an Arizona Standard Professional License.

#TEACH offers graduate‑level education courses for Arizona participants through a partnership with Ashland University. Candidates enrolled with #TEACH can earn up to 12 graduate credits for their completed coursework.

Offered fully online and delivered in partnership with #TEACH, this pathway provides a streamlined option for future educators who need a degree to move forward in the certification process.

Delivered in partnership with #TEACH, this program allows students to complete graduate‑level coursework while meeting state certification requirements.
