Admission Requirements
What are the requirements for an Alabama teaching certificate? To earn your Alabama teaching certificate in 2026, you must hold a bachelor’s degree with the minimum GPA requirements and complete an approved educator preparation program that prioritizes classroom readiness. Candidates must also demonstrate content mastery through Praxis subject assessments. Under 2026 guidelines, #TEACH provides the rigorous, state-approved framework necessary to navigate these requirements, including expedited pathways for military veterans and specialized tracks for high-need vacancies.
Core Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree
You must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university. National accreditation is not sufficient.
Academic Transcripts

GPA Requirement
You must have a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher on a 4.0 scale. The GPA can be from any degree acquired that is a BA or higher.
Completed Application
You must submit an application for admission. The application is short and should take you 7 minutes or less to complete!
